One of my laptops that somehow still works once shot a gray cloud out of its vents while I was updating Linux Mint on it. It could've been a build-up of dust since the laptop hadn't been turned on for at least a year by the time I did that, but the laptop also has a batterly life of 2 seconds, so part of me believes something exploded in it while it was updating. I think I'll install Debian on everything from here on out, or at least be overly paranoid about updating Linux Mint.
I'm not really a hardware person so idk the full extent of what's wrong with it. Aside from the battery life, the only thing noticeably wrong with it is that half of the buttons on the keyboard don't work, with some only working if you press really hard on them.
